process/concept
even though the script and the audio both have the typical school book scenario styles with precise descriptions of situations and example dialogues, i tried to step away from
a ‘talking head’ animation with
my visuals. drawing inspiration from my own experience with depression, my aim was to find at least one key visual representation of each of
the patients’ feelings to accurately display the intense emotions they might experience.
e.g. tony’s depression shadow pushes him down as sitting on his chest (reference for henry fuseli’s nightmare), the red hands running like flames on tony’s chest as the anxiety/guilt chokes him up; portraying troy’s bipolar depression and showing his distraction by extreme angle changes.
